Event Specifics

GWH August Family Conference to be held Wednesday to Saturday with more of a camp feel

By God’s grace Greenwood Hills will prayerfully open to edify… even if it has to look different than we are used to. With the Lord’s help, a family conference with more of a camp feel will be held at Greenwood Hills from Wednesday evening August 5 to Saturday morning August 8, beginning with God’s Word on the lawn at 8:00 Wednesday evening and ending at 10:30 am Saturday after the final teaching meeting. Lord willing, Steve Price will be bringing the truths of God’s Word to adults. Morning sessions will be two teaching times combined into one 90 minute session. For families who are interested, children can participate in a separate meeting with Eric Smith during the 90 minute morning time in the Word. Lord willing, the evening singing and preaching will be outdoors for the whole family, so bring your own blanket and/or lawn chairs… and maybe some bug spray  ( :


Lord willing, Thursday after the teaching we will all head to Caledonia for a picnic lunch and an afternoon of fun activities (hiking, creek walking, and yet-to-be-disclosed amazing outdoor activities!). Friday will be similar, though our awesome activities will be together on campus. Though the GWH pool will not be open, water will be involved, so come prepared! Chatterbox ice cream and drinks will be served out the window each evening.


The Inn rooms, lobby and gameroom will not be used for the event, however, accommodations with private baths are available for rent: cabins, retreat center, and motel. Meals will look different with a simple cold breakfast available each morning on the dining hall porch and simple lunches (deli sandwiches; catered barbeque) outdoors with families sitting together when at a table. Those with food allergies will need to make their own arrangements. We do not anticipate the Inn and Dining Hall being in use, so refrigerators will not be available. Many saints have their own kitchens available and restaurants are open, so guests are asked to make their own arrangements for dinners each of the two evenings. The outdoor evening meeting will be held at 8:00 to allow additional time for dinner.


Though things will have to be different, it sure will be great to have Christian fellowship and hear God’s Word! All those who plan to attend must register, including those simply attending a meeting and/or desiring to be part of activities. Guests are asked to follow state guidelines in place at the time of the event. Please realize these guidelines may change including limitations on who may attend. Please inform yourself of potential risks as you decide whether to attend or not. Tabernacle seating will be spaced out with entrance from the back and exit from the front (limited special accommodations will be made if possible for those unable to use steps). Masks are required when entering/exiting meeting and meal areas. Hand sanitizer will be provided and should be used prior to and after meals and meetings. This will be done similarly for children’s meetings in the retreat center. If you are sick or know you have been around those who are sick with COVID-19, we ask that in love you do not attend.
